About Me

Hello!

My name is Stephanie and I just LOVE words. I have always been a word person. If you ask me, there is nothing better than a well-placed play on words and nothing more cringe-worthy than an incorrect apostrophe! 

 

Misplaced letters just seem to jump out at me, and I get great enjoyment out of spotting a spelling mistake in something I'm reading. So, it was only natural that I was drawn towards proofreading and editing as a career.

I'll admit it - I'm an organisational freak with a fussy eye for the small details. A perfectionist. I will work hard until everything is just right. I believe there is more to editing a document than using a dictionary and following the grammar rule book; I will work alongside you, getting to know you and getting to know the piece of writing that you have worked hard to produce. 
 

I earned a degree in Business Management from Massey University in 2008, and my organisational skills were fine-tuned over the following 12 years working in sports administration and then in the mortgage industry. Throughout this time, I also enjoyed building relationships with a wide range of people in our community through a number of volunteer roles, including work for our local golf club, playcentre, and school.

In 2019 I made the decision to follow my passion for words.  A year later, I graduated from the New Zealand Institute of Business Studies with a Diploma of Proofreading and Editing. 

​

I grew up in Opotiki, a small town on the East Coast of New Zealand, and I now live in Palmerston North with my husband and our two young sons. When I have spare time, I like to spend it with my family - golfing, biking, and exploring the beautiful walking tracks our country has to offer. I also relax by gardening, sewing and, of course, READING!!!
